I am unique.
Sure, everybody thinks this. But I really am.
Proof: I am lefty. I am an introvert. I am an only child. I was born on February 29th.
Yes, that’s where the title of this website comes from.
I am also a writer. My hope is to become a professional writer so when I retire from teaching I can continue to make money by doing something I love.
This website is a step along this journey. I wish for it to be a space in which I explore my unique qualities. I hope I find other lefties, and other introverts, and other only children, and other Leap Day babies along the way.
I will address each of these markers in their own posts going forward with this website. But for now, I want to introduce myself:
My name is John, and I have been a middle school teacher for 30 years. I could be as few as five years away from retirement. I am a Yankees/Giants/Knicks New York sports fan, and I love playing sports video games. I also love to golf. In fact, I am becoming quite obsessed with getting better at the sport.
I wish I was a better reader and a more prolific writer. I will be changing my habits and my language on both of those fronts. While I do read a lot of social media, I want to engage more with novels, as that is what I would ultimately like to write.
I have two daughters, one who lives with me and another who is off on her own. I have a townhouse, which is perfect for me in this stage of life. My 65” television is one of my proud possessions, and one that gets a lot of work, especially on sports weekends.
So that’s me in a nutshell. But there’s so much more. And I will be chronicling that in all my future posts.
